LUXURY TRAINS

Journeys on Rails.

The golden age of train travel never ended here.

Scroll

Long before the luxury train became a global travel concept, India had already perfected it. The great palace trains of the Subcontinent, the Palace on Wheels, the Maharajas' Express, the Deccan Odyssey, the Golden Chariot, move through some of the country's most remarkable landscapes in a style that recalls the era of the maharajas who first made rail travel an exercise in opulence. Ornate cabins, white-glove dining cars, and the unhurried rhythm of a journey measured not in flight hours but in landscapes slowly revealed.

India's railway story extends beyond the luxury carriages. The narrow-gauge mountain railways of Darjeeling, Nilgiri, and Kalka-Shimla, each a UNESCO World Heritage site, are journeys of a different and equally extraordinary character. And in Sri Lanka, the train through the hill country from Kandy to Ella is widely regarded as one of the most scenic rail journeys on earth, winding through mist-covered tea estates with views that linger long after arrival.

At Truly India, we weave rail journeys into broader itineraries that honour the landscapes they pass through, treating the train not simply as transport, but as an experience entirely worth designing around.
