Best time to visit

When to go

Northern Plains

OCTOBER – MARCH

The ideal window for Rajasthan, Delhi, Agra, and Varanasi. Summers are intense and monsoon rains arrive in July; winters are crisp, clear, and perfect for heritage travel.

South India

OCTOBER – MARCH

Post-monsoon freshness across Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Andhra. Temperatures are comfortable, festival season is in full swing, and the landscapes are at their most vivid.

West India

NOVEMBER – FEBRUARY

Peak season for Goa and Maharashtra. Gujarat shines between November and February, with the celebrated Rann Utsav transforming the white salt desert of Kutch into one of India's most extraordinary seasonal events.

North East India

OCTOBER – APRIL

Clear skies, moderate temperatures, and landscapes in full colour. March brings the rhododendron bloom across the hills, one of the region's most spectacular natural displays.

Central India

OCTOBER – JUNE

Tiger reserve season. Wildlife sightings peak between November and May, before the reserves close for the monsoon months of July through September.

Lower Himalayas

MARCH – JUNE
SEPTEMBER – NOVEMBER

Spring and autumn offer the finest conditions across Himachal, Uttarakhand, Darjeeling, and Sikkim. Monsoon brings challenging road conditions and is best avoided for most itineraries.

Himalayan Peak

JUNE – SEPTEMBER

The primary window for Ladakh and the high-altitude routes, when mountain passes open and the landscape is fully accessible. Kashmir also comes alive in spring, tulips in full bloom from March through May make for one of India's most unexpected spectacles.
