DESTINATIONS, INDIAN OCEAN

Maldives.

Where the ocean is the destination.

The Maldives asks very little of its visitors, and gives back everything. Spread across 26 atolls in the heart of the Indian Ocean, this archipelago of over a thousand coral islands offers what few destinations can: genuine, uninterrupted seclusion in one of the world's most visually extraordinary settings. Overwater villas extending above turquoise lagoons. House reefs teeming with marine life steps from the shore. The quiet discipline of a place where nothing competes with the horizon.

At Truly India, we work with the Maldives' finest resorts, selecting each property for its design, its marine environment, and the quality of experience it delivers. Whether the priority is world-class diving, complete privacy, family amenity, or simply the most beautifully designed room above the water, we place our guests in exactly the right setting.

Best time to visit

When to go

General, All Atolls

NOVEMBER – APRIL

The dry season brings calmer seas, clearer skies, and exceptional underwater visibility. The southwest monsoon from May through October brings occasional rain but rarely disrupts the experience, and delivers extraordinary marine spectacles on select atolls. The Maldives is, in practice, a year-round destination.

North & South Malé Atoll

NOVEMBER – APRIL

The closest atolls to Velana International Airport, with the widest resort selection and the most straightforward speedboat transfers. Ideal for shorter stays or those combining the Maldives with India or Sri Lanka.

Ari Atoll

YEAR-ROUND

One of the Maldives' most celebrated dive destinations. South Ari is renowned for whale shark sightings throughout the year, among the most remarkable marine encounters the archipelago has to offer.

Baa Atoll

JUNE – NOVEMBER

A UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and home to Hanifaru Bay, where manta rays gather in extraordinary concentrations during the southwest monsoon. One of the great wildlife spectacles of the Indian Ocean.

Lhaviyani Atoll

NOVEMBER – APRIL

Exceptional house reefs and outstanding diving, with a smaller concentration of resorts that ensures a quieter, more exclusive atmosphere.

Noonu & Raa Atolls

NOVEMBER – APRIL

Further north and far less visited, for those who place genuine remoteness at the top of their priorities without any compromise on quality. Accessible by seaplane only.

Southern Atolls

NOVEMBER – APRIL

The most secluded corner of the Maldives. A handful of ultra-exclusive properties for travellers for whom privacy is the defining luxury.
