Into the Wild.
Some journeys take you into the wild. Ours take you inside it.
The Indian Subcontinent is one of the world's great wildlife destinations — home to the Bengal tiger, the Asiatic lion, the one-horned rhinoceros, the snow leopard, and some of the most extraordinary concentrations of large mammals on the planet. India's tiger reserves span a remarkable range of habitats: the dry deciduous forests of Rajasthan, the dense sal forests of Madhya Pradesh, the grasslands of the Terai, and the mangrove labyrinths of the Sundarbans. Nepal's Chitwan and Bardia hold their own exceptional terrain; Sri Lanka's Yala offers some of Asia's finest leopard sightings; and Bhutan's pristine forests shelter rare Himalayan species found nowhere else on earth.
For birders, the Subcontinent is in a league entirely its own. India alone is home to over 1,300 species — from the flamingo colonies of the Rann of Kutch to the migratory spectacle of Chilika Lake, the rare endemics of the North East, and the extraordinary high-altitude species of the Himalayas. Sri Lanka's 33 endemic bird species make it one of Asia's most rewarding birding destinations in a remarkably compact geography. Nepal and Bhutan offer Himalayan birding of unmatched quality, with species found nowhere else on the planet. For the serious birder, this region is not simply compelling — it is essential.
At Truly India, we design wildlife and birding journeys with the seriousness the subject demands. Private jeeps, expert naturalists with genuine field experience, and lodges positioned within the finest terrain — combined with a deep understanding of seasons, migration patterns, and sighting behaviour that comes only from years on the ground. We do not promise encounters. We place our guests in the best possible position to have them.
